For his latest installation, Ryman re-creates the log cabin of Abraham Lincoln's boyhood as an aggregation of crap—notably beer-can tabs and bullets—generally associated with the American way of life. These items, which number in the thousands, have all been plated in gold-colored chrome, to add a notable element of bling to the occasion.
