"Walker Evans American Photographs"

This show celebrates the 75th anniversary of Walker Evans's 1938 exhibition at MoMA with a reprise of that show, which helped establish Evans's reputation as America's seminal photographer. The 60 prints on view—divided between images of people and places—date largely from the 1930s and the height of the Great Depression, when the country underwent profound social and cultural changes.
