Stefanie Gutheil, "Dreckige Katze"

Brueghel, Bosch and Grosz may be some of the artists who come to mind as you make your way through this German artist's grotesque/carnivalesque mélange of paintings and mixed-media sculptures, whose exhibition title translates roughly as "dirty cats." The figures depicted are based on people Gutheil has encountered, from family members to the denizens of Berlin's gay club scene.
