Time Out says

Jesús Rafael Soto (1923–2005), the Venezuelan Op and Kinetic Art pioneer, was a familiar of such midcentury Parisian avant-gardists as Yves Klein and Jean Tinguely, and his work was regularly featured in exhibitions at MoMA and the Guggenheim back in the day. He's far less known here today—this show is his first in a New York institution in 35 years—though he's considered a major artist in Latin America. This survey focuses on the reciprocal influences between the artist and his French colleagues.
