Shirin Neshat

The Book of Kings, an epic poem from medieval Iran, is the inspiration for Neshat's latest photos: a series of black-and-white portraits of contemporary Middle Eastern youths whose faces are overwritten with passages from the text. The Iranian artist also presents a new three-channel video dealing with the collision between artistic freedom and political repression.
