Created between 1985 and 2010, these luxuriant color photos present the legendary palace built by the Sun King, Louis XIV, as a work-in-progress, with walls in need of repainting, and gilt-framed portraits waiting to be rehung. They suggest that Marie Antoinette wasn't alone in being high-maintenance.
