The subjects of this British artist, who divides his time between Berlin and Cologne, are people Collins solicited (via ads and such) to participate in his videos and photos. The projects, which are often elaborately staged, are meant to illuminate how people's identities are being shaped by the global reach of technology, media and popular culture. Thus, for example, one of Collins's past pieces followed fans of the band the Smiths on three different continents, while a work in this show focuses on young antifascist skinheads in Malaysia—a subculture imported to the Far East from Europe. The latter is one of three large-scale installations on offer.
