If there were ever such a title as artist laureate of disaster capitalism, this Belgian artist would definitely fit the bill. Though his shaggy installational aggregations of ruined building materials are abstract, they evoke the aftermath of an earthquake or drone strike, or perhaps the dystopian terrain of post-Katrina New Orleans or postbankruptcy Detroit. Creepy and compelling, they also look a bit like John Chamberlain's crushed-auto sculptures after they've been torched for the insurance money.
