Both parts of this two-space show involve the use of found ceramic objects incorporated into larger sculptural settings, but the nature of the items and their tone differ significantly from one gallery to the next: "Rescue" features the form of a dog, with all of its attendant connotations of loyalty. In "Made for Whites by Whites," the focus is on racist figurines that were once an acceptable staple of 19th- and 20-century American popular culture. Taken together, the exhibits explore the nature of stereotypes, both positive and negative.
