“Mary Weatherford: Red Hook”

Weatherford, a Los Angeles painter, inaugurates this LES gallery’s new 5,000-square-foot location in Red Hook with a new series of compositions that pay homage to the neighborhood's proximity to New York Harbor. Veils of black and blue applied loosely to linen are meant to evoke the harbor’s turbid waters while overlaid strips of lit neon tubing stand in for distant city lights.
