Assuming it's much of an accomplishment, anyone who thinks Wade Guyton "reinvented" minimalist painting by using digital printers might want to consider the career of this artist. Concurrent with Guyton in the late 1990s, Cotrell also began to experiment with printers, yielding severely formal—and quite beautiful—black and white abstractions. The proof is in this show, her first in New York in ten years.
