The King of Pop Art, aka contemporary pop artist Nelson De La Nuez, is coming to New York for a solo exhibition titled "Made in the USA."
The artist and his family came to the U.S. from Cuba at the age of 7 with nothing. Over the years, he meticulously practiced his art, unveiling his talent along the way. "The humble beginnings of a now very successful artist have kept him grounded and always creating and reinventing," a press releae for the show stated. "The irony is what he became well known for is because of what he came to know best; American culture, pop culture, advertising, etc."
The artist's take on pop culture will be on display through mixed media sketches, originals on canvas and sculptures including his renowned realistic-looking donuts.
See the show at National Arts Club's Grand Gallery from November 1-22. While the club is private, the show is open to the public for gallery viewing until 5pm daily.
