"Llyn Foulkes: Bloody Heads"

A West Coast contemporary of the such art stars as John Baldessari, Chris Burden and Bruce Nauman, Foulkes is enjoying something of a Chelsea revival, with a show of landscapes at Andrea Rosen running concurrently with this selection of "portraits"—which are in fact found images that have splotches of red painted across the faces. They are as bloody-minded as America itself often seems to be.
