Brätsch, who was born in Hamburg, Germany, and now lives in New York, is known for her collaborative work with Adele Röder as Das Institut. In the past, Brätsch's solo efforts have included things like Plexiglas sculptures, holding magazines like a rack. But she is a painter above all, though one who admittedly strays into the meta realm by using, for instance, layered sheets of Mylar as a support for abstract compositions that appear to dwell on issues of light or transparency. In this show, her first as a solo artist, she ventures into the medium of stained glass, creating pieces with master Swiss glassmaker Urs Rickenbach.
