This Texas native’s engaging shaped canvases are technically upholstery: He wraps pieces of canvases painted with single colors around foam-padded panels, giving them a cushy appeal. The shapes he uses—usually in pairs or combined in small groups—follow a funky irregular geometry. Together with his interplay of form and color, his approach recalls a synthesis of Ellsworth Kelly and Richard Tuttle.
