Jorge Pardo, "Inert"

This veteran Cuban-American artist, based in Mexico, has spent his career narrowing the distinction between art and design, creating sculptural objects and installations that ask, where, exactly, is the line separating functionality from pure aesthetics? The centerpiece of his latest show is an enclosed bedroom in the middle of the gallery, which is, in turn, surrounded within the main space by masklike reliefs and chandeliers.
