John Bock, "Im Schatten der Made (In the Shadow of the Maggot)"

German artist John Bock is often described as a combination of Buster Keaton and mad scientist, and certainly, the madcap, jumbled and scattershot quality of his various videos, performances and sculptural installations derived from them suggests as much. His latest show centers around a black-and-white video that mashes up the Weimar-cinema look of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with the experiment-run-amok plotline of Frankenstein.
