For his first solo museum exhibition in the United States, the 85-year-old political artist and activist presents a series of sculptural tableaux begun in the mid-1990s. Each centers on a famous instance of historical violence—the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto, the Vietnam War, the Oklahoma City bombing—as captured by an iconic photograph. The image is blown up, but also partially or completely obscured by an object that relates to the content.
