Enter into a glittering world of all things green and glitzy at the American Museum of Natural History’s Garden of Green: Exquisite Jewelry from the Collection of Van Cleef & Arpels, which has been fittingly extended through St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. The special exhibition includes 44 pieces of green gemstone jewelry, 32 of which are on display for the first time in the U.S.
The pieces are drawn from the collections of the renowned maison of French high jewelry, Van Cleef & Arpels. On view in the Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals are stand-out pieces including the Patricia Emerald, a 632-carat emerald crystal that was discovered in 1920 in Colombia’s Chivor Mine and a jadeite jade incense burner featuring clouds and three mythical creatures.
