The latest paintings by this Berlin-to–New York transplant are more abstract and mysterious than his previous works, which featured free-floating amalgams of noses, ice-cream cones, hats and other items comically bumping together with a certain Kippenbergeresque jouissance—minus the dark, dyspeptic undercurrent.
