Douglas Melini

In Melini's latest paintings, screens of diagonal bands act as sieves for painterly flourishes of color that seem to be squeezing their way through the composition's surface. Each canvas is painted a single uniform hue of emerald, sapphire or platinum within an intimately scaled format, creating a jewel-like effect.
