Astonishingly, this Cuban-born geometric abstractionist recently turned 101 and is still going strong. When Herrera came to New York in 1954, her hard-edge style was out of step with the prevailing Abstract Expressionist aesthetic of the time. She labored in obscurity for decades, until she was recognized late in her career as an important precursor to Minimalist painting. This show is her first major survey since 1998.
