When they say March comes in like a lion, they mean the weather, of course. But they might as well mean the art world, since the beginning of March heralds the coming of Armory Arts Week—when hordes of collectors, dealers, artists and just about anyone who follows contemporary art descend on New York to take in the art fairs. This year, there are nine such events running concurrently, anchored by the Armory Show itself. The action stretches from the South Street Seaport up to the West Side Piers and features a staggering array of artists. It’s one-stop shopping for one-percenters looking to buy, and the many more who just want to have a look. There’s no better way to take a tour d’horizon of the latest going on in art from around the world without having to travel very far.
