Windham Mountain Club is a public-private mountain community located in the Great Northern Catskills. After introducing a new membership system in 2023, the skiing hotspot is still open to the public but now offers additional perks for members such as unique dining experiences and high-end amenities. Under its new owners, WMC has invested extensively in the facilities on the mountain which is evident as soon as you step into The Shop, the on-site store that used to be a run-of-the-mill ski shop and rental facility and is now a luxe retail outfit complete with bespoke millwork.
When it comes to skiing, day lift tickets are still available to the public and provide access to high-speed chairlifts that access 1,600 vertical feet of terrain. The slopes are far less crowded than at nearby Hunter Mountain and wait times at the lifts are shorter. (Though you’ll be paying for that huge benefit with higher prices.) Ski school and training sessions are also open to the public, and you’ll certainly see many ski schools out and about at the family-friendly mountain while you’re there. Thanks to food and beverage director Adam Fink, the public dining offerings have also been revamped—from the new Foodhall to sushi at Okami by Mr. Lee. (Yes, you can get on-mountain sushi.)
Those who invest in a pricey WMC membership unlock a higher level of amenities including a 5,000-square-foot fitness club, a spa and wellness center and an adventure concierge for outdoor experiences such as guided hikes and horseback rides. Windham Grill, is a private dining experience on the mountain that exudes rustic luxury and might be the best argument for investing in a membership. Another unique experience, Cin Cin!, is an Italian Alps-inspired mid-mountain restaurant that members can reach via Snowcat for nightly seatings. The transportive space serves up comforting food from Executive Chef Goran Ristic in what feels like a vintage Catskills cabin.
Plans for the future at WMC include a new aquatic and racquet center, a brand-new 18-hole golf course, a new clubhouse and more. The club has also partnered with nearby luxury boutique hotel The Henson to provide another elevated option for your next mountain getaway.
