Time Out says

This stylish spa and wellness retreat is perched amid the rolling hills of Sullivan County amid flowering meadows that feel a world apart from nearby crowded tourist hubs. Of course, that sense of calming otherworldliness is exactly what you want in a spa weekend, and Hemlock Neversink delivers it in spades. Spread out across 230 acres, the holistic complex was developed by Foster Supply Hospitality from a site that was once the New Age Health Spa. The current property builds on that early wellness pioneer’s legacy to create a space that nods to the past while feeling firmly grounded in the present.

The 33 rooms—ranging from accommodations for one to multi-room cabins—have a Quaker-influenced sensibility with warm earth tones, wall pegs and wooden furniture. The comfortable beds feature Belino Fine Linens, with Oneka Bath Amenities in the bathroom, creating luxurious private escapes from the day’s activities. Speaking of activities, there are plenty of them to be found at the resort. On a recent weekend, the day’s offerings included a candle-making seminar, a HIIT class, yoga, stargazing, forest walking and a natural dye workshop. It’s like going to a summer camp for very relaxed adults.

The aforementioned activities, which are free for those staying at Hemlock Neversink, don’t include the main draw of the resort: the fantastic on-site spa. One of the spa’s signature treatments, the Detoxifying Waters Ritual, is a glorious way to spend half a day and the perfect introduction to the spa’s capabilities. A full-body exfoliating scrub is followed by a jasmine-scented clay wrap and warm mineral soak. The immersive experience concludes with a deep tissue massage. The spa’s facilities, open to all guests, includes a relaxation room with views of a colorful garden and an indoor pool, sauna and hot tub.

The food and beverage program, created by Foster Supply Hospitality, is innovative and fantastic. A plate of sliced pickled cucumbers and watermelon is followed by a perfectly grilled skirt steak or a bowl of long, noodle-like mushrooms that resembles Cacio e pepe. Three daily seatings are offered at the on-site restaurant, Bittersweet, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outside of meal times, the main lodge always has a fully stocked buffet with fresh fruit, tea and other healthy snacks.

The resort’s secret draw, however, is the absolutely magical goat sanctuary that’s located on the property with over 20 rescued goats. Each day, you can accompany a handful of those goats on a meandering walk along the many forest trails surrounding the resort where they’ll playfully nudge you, happily chomp on surrounding greenery and provide overall cheer.

Time Out Tip: Be sure to set aside plenty of time to explore the extensive private trail system that surrounds the property with paths that lead through a diverse array of striking landscapes.
