Update: For the first time in the park's history, Six Flags will offer its Holiday in the Park as a drive-thru experience Monday through Thursday evenings from Nov 30 through Dec 17. Other experiences, including roller coasters, fire pits and holiday treats will only be available on the weekend. All guests must reserve a ticket online. All safety measures are available on the park's website.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Six Flags. The fan-favorite theme park is slated to debut its sixth Holiday in the Park extravaganza from Nov 14 to Jan 3, 2021, and guests have plenty to look forward to this season. Returning traditions include Holiday Magic: A Celebration of the Season, a festive light show, Joy to the World, a path of illuminated trees, and Polar Point, an area of ice-blue trees frequented by the Snow King and Queen. Learn all about safety measures and snag tickets online. Be sure to check out other cool Christmas events for kids, too!

2. Peace, Love & Lights

The Woodstock site is getting a yuletide makeover. From Nov 23–Jan 3, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts will host the drive-thru Peace, Love & Lights Festival, a one mile-long display of holiday lights with homage to the grounds' iconic past. Naturally, there are eye-catching Christmas displays—a 120-foot Twinkle Tunnel, an Enchanted Forest—but where else will you find Groovy Way, a lights attraction takin' you all the way back to 1969? It's a must for music lovers and the whole family!

This year has not been kind to street fairs. To fill the void, the debut Orange County Drive-Thru Fair Food Festival allowed visitors to get their funnel cake and fried Oreo fix in a socially distanced manner. Now, visitors can expect the same delights—with a holiday twist. The Orange County Fair's Holiday Lights Spectacular is not only a great drive-thru Christmas event with stunning light displays—featuring a multimedia show with accompaniment from Christmas carols—it's the perfect place for those with a sweet tooth. What can hungry visitors expect? Funnel cake, zeppoles, freshly-squeezed lemonade and cotton candy. Consider it a dose of summertime in the winter! The event will run from Nov 27 to Jan 3 in Middletown, New York at 239 Wisner Ave. Snag $20 tickets online and explore other Christmas events in NYC and the surrounding area.

More fun for kids: Christmas movies on Netflix

Playwright David E Talbert enters the Christmas canon with this Netflix original starring Forest Whitaker as an aloof toymaker tasked with caring for his estranged granddaughter on Christmas. An old-school musical fantasy brought to life through new-school VFX and cutting-edge choreography, the film is extremely busy and a little unfocused – not that most viewers would notice. They’ll be too busy being dazzled by the explosive visuals and genuine heart at the core of the film. Rated PG.
