This weekend, join the amphibious friends of Wave Hill and learn about their essential role in our ecosystem, and then meet them in person. On Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, create art inspired by the environment with the help of youth interns from Wave Hill’s Art Community. Attendees will be guided through a nature story-walk—with the opportunity to create art along the way from your own imaginative perspective (10am–1pm). On Sunday, June 9 at 1pm, Naturalist Gabriel Willow will speak on his extensive knowledge of bird species, their behavior, and role in the environment. After the talk, children (ages 10 and up) and adults will be invited to go on a series of walks with Willow to observe the birds and their habitat in action. After this, Environmental Educator Carl Heitmuller will give a talk on frogs and toads, ancient amphibians which date back to the age of dinosaurs at 1:30pm (register online). Children can learn about frog characteristics and adaptations as well as frog vocalizations. Finally, get a chance to meet these amazing animals in person from the Museum’s collection. All ages.
