Time Out says

Kids with a flair for trivia and competition might consider a scavenger hunt birthday theme. A Watson Adventures host will explain the game and divide partygoers into teams, who will then need to answer humorous riddles and solve clues that lead them through museums, parks, zoos or neighborhoods around the city. During the hunt, the hunt host might happen to run across members of the group. If it’s arranged (and paid for) there will be some special challenges. The party emphasis is on "fun, not run," so the playing field is equal for kids of all athletic abilities. The current offerings to pick from are Wizard School Scavenger Hunt, SoHo Chocolatey Scavenger Hunt, Ghosts of Greenwich Village Scavenger Hunt, Whodunnit at the MET Scavenger Hunt and Cats vs. Dogs Scavenger Hunt. For an additional fee, parents can request a customized hunt with team photo challenges (everyone must appear in the photo to compose an inventive response to the question posed) and questions tailored to the birthday kid's interests. Hunts take place at various locations around the city, depending on the theme, or a private location can be selected. Ages 7 and up.
