The official NYC School Calendar for 2024-2025 has been released, and includes all important dates for the school year.

It’s time to start planning for the upcoming school year. The Department of Education has officially released the NYC School Calendar for 2024-25, and we have all the important dates for you right here. School holidays, parent-teacher conferences and early dismissals are all included in this list so you can sort out the school year.For those after-school hours, check out these after-school programs for kids in NYC and browse all the amazing things to do with kids in NYC. You can even start planning a family day trip or weekend getaway for those much-deserved holiday breaks.

The 2024-2025 term:

September 5: First day of school
September 12: Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for elementary schools and Pre-K Centers
September 19: Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for middle schools and D75 schools
September 26: Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools
October 3-4: Rosh Hashanah, schools closed
October 14: Italian Heritage/Indigenous Peoples’ Day, schools closed
November 1: Diwali, schools closed
November 5: Election Day, students do not attend school
November 7: Afternoon and Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for elementary schools; students in these schools dismissed three hours early
November 11: Veterans Day, schools closed
November 14: Afternoon and Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for middle schools and D75 schools; students in these schools dismissed three hours early
November 21: Afternoon and Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools
November 22: Afternoon Parent-Teacher Conferences for high schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools; students in these schools dismissed three hours early
November 28-29: Thanksgiving Recess, schools closed
December 24, 2024-January 1, 2025: Winter Recess, schools closed
January 25: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, schools closed
January 21-25: Regents Administration
January 27: Professional Development Day
January 28 First day of Spring Semester
January 29: Lunar New Year, schools closed
