Good news for all the little Katnisses and Legolases in NYC: There are incredible ranges in town where you can sharpen your skills and learn the ancient art of archery.

Shooting off a quiver of arrows into a target is unquestionably one of the coolest things to do with kids in NYC. Not an expert archer? No worries. All of the ranges on our list welcome first-timers.

Archery is one of the most amazing indoor activities for kids you'll find in the Big Apple, and it could inspire your tiny archer to take up an Olympic sport. Looking for other ways to keep active when the weather doesn't cooperate? Then check out the best kids' fitness centers in NYC.

Be sure to visit Course Horse for additional courses for your active kids!

The two locations of this archery range have it all. The location in Boerum Hill is a 7,500-square-foot facility, while the Manhattan branch is smaller, with 10 lanes. Either gallery would make even Katniss Everdeen quiver. (Get it? Quiver? Don’t worry, you will.) Gotham has an intro class for newbies, in which arrow-slinging first-timers are taught by a USA Archery–certified instructor on how to nail that bull’s-eye. Gotham Archery offers complementary equipment for beginners—and you can even go over a video of yourself in action with a pro. Take the tips to heart: Each session wraps up with a friendly competition game, during which the best shot wins a prize—and bragging rights. Ages 10 and up.
