Nikola Tesla, a Serbian-bred inventor, might not have the same name recognition as Edison or Einstein, but the turn-of-the-century "mad scientist" gets his due honors at NYSCI starting on his birthday, July 10 (otherwise known as Nikola Tesla Day). Through October 20, guests of the museum can gawk at working models of his many inventions (he held nearly 300 registered patents in 26 countries) including the alternating current motor, x-rays, remote controls, fluorescent lighting and an aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing that combined features of both a plane and a helicopter. Ages 8 and up.
