The first space shuttle prototype ever, the Enterprise, has finally settled into its new home at the city's Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The 1976-built spacecraft, which was given to the museum by NASA in 2011, hangs just ten feet above the floor, meaning visitors can get an up-close look at it from below, as well as from the sides via an elevated viewing platform. Videos, photograph and wall text convey the space shuttle's history, illuminating the part the spacecraft played in the country's mission to discover more about the universe we are a part of, yet still know so little about. All ages.
