Celebrate Independence Day with the kids at one of Brooklyn's most family friendly locations, Prospect Park! The Audubon Center has a full day of nature walks and hands-on activities planned for the entire gang. In the morning (10am–1pm), youngsters can play outdoor games, examine nature with Discovery Packs, identify birds and watch the feathered creatures with the Brooklyn Bird Club. From noon to 5pm, learn how the Bald Eagle became America’s symbol of independence, spread mulch around trees (2–3pm), participate in a Citizen Science project (3–4pm) and meet real animals (4–4:30pm). Go back in time at the Lefferts Historic House (2–5pm, $3 suggested donation) where kids can don plumed hats and sign a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence. Don't forget to go for a spin on the park carousel ($2 per ride)! All ages.
