Volunteers of America–Greater New York is once again running its annual Operation Backpack drive to collect new backpacks filled with grade-specific school supplies. NYC families can help kids in need by donating basic school supplies through August 7, which will then be distributed to children in homeless and domestic violence shelters throughout the city. This year's goal is 20,000 backpacks, so drop off supplies at select Duane Reade and Walgreens stores or other spots around the city to boost the confidence of these students before school starts this fall! Visit the website for a full list of locations and a list of supplies for each grade.
