To celebrate the many different spiritualities found in New York, Wave Hill is using the Hamsa, a multicultural symbol of the open hand, as part of it's popular Family Art project line-up. Children are encouraged to traced the outline of their hand, or use a readily available template, for a palm-shaped amulet that they will then decorate. The young artists can draw wintery scenes from around Wave Hill or use found materials, like cones and leaves, to create a beautiful, seasonal Hamsa.
