Carnival Panorama: Celebrations from Across the Caribbean

Time Out says

You may have already taken your crew to see "Caribbean: Crossroads of the World" at El Museo del Barrio, the Queens Museum of Art or the Studio Museum in Harlem. This weekend, though, the three-museum exhibit comes to life with a colorful roar as families take part in Afro-Caribbean percussion workshops, steel pan tutorials and costume making lessons in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. After learning about Carnival traditions on different islands, kids will get up and groove to performances by Colombian-style group La Cumbiamba, Haiti's Raram and Brooklyn's own Request Band, which fuses calypso and reggae beats. All ages.
