During this seriously cool three-day fest, kids get acquainted with the greats, listen to live performances and explore the history of jazz within the context of American culture. Wednesday's itinerary kicks off with an interactive program about improvisation and self-expression among bandmembers (10am) followed by an animated show starring Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk and the gang (noon) designed for ages 7 to 10. On Thursday, older kids (ages 11 and up) get a short American history lesson, then delve into a study of Miles Davis. Friday's schedule gives the slightly younger set (ages 8 to 11) performances of works by international jazz composers, then an interactive multimedia program teaches them all about the life of Duke Ellington. Ages 7 and up.
