It’s time for one of the summer’s most cherished traditions: pick-your-own fruit. From blueberries and strawberries to cherries and peaches, everyone loves fruit that’s fresh from the farm. Peach picking in NYC is a fun family outing that’s twice as nice: have fun roaming the orchards and picking fresh fruit, then you’ll go home with your spoils to enjoy a sweet taste of summer all over again.

These peach picking spots are all within a two-hour drive from NYC, so it’s easy to make a day of it. Many of these farms offer additional fun-filled activities—think hayrides, petting zoos and fresh-baked treats at the farm cafe. Load up on sweet, juicy peaches and you’ve got yourself a memorable summer activity for kids. Peach season in New York and New Jersey kicks off in late July and extends into August and even September, but always be sure to check each farm to see what’s ready for picking.
