Located in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, Herbert Von King Park is named after community leader Herbert Von King (1912-1985), and was originally called Tompkins Park. Designed by Olmstead and Vaux, it is one of the borough's oldest parks. Today, it thrives with baseball fields, playgrounds, barbecue areas and an outdoor ampitheater. Shape Up NYC holds free fitness classes for all ages at the Cultural Arts Recreation Center, which is also home to crafts, drama, cooking and other children's programs.
