Where to find a homemade playdough recipe to make with the kids

Time inside calls for a bout of creativity...and a little bit of a mess. 

If your budding artists love molding playdough structures, why not opt for a cool art project and make some homemade playdough? If you're not intimidated by a clean-up process—or optional glitter finding its way into your apartment's nooks and crannies—read on for some DIY recipes. 

PBS Kids 

What you'll need: 

  • A large mixing bowl
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 cups salt
  • Food coloring (mix them to make different colors)
  • Glitter

Your pantry has the key to a successful chunk of playdough, and this PBS Kids recipe proves it. The glittery how-to encourages parents and kids to tackle the craft together.

What you'll need: 

  • 1 Cup White Rice Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1-1/2 tsp Canola or other vegetable oil
  • 1 Cup hot water
  • Glitter

Inspired by Paw Patrol pals, this edible recipe will leave little artists/chefs with Skye-themed clouds that are not only delish, but glittery, too! Psst: It's gluten-free, too.

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 cup of Salt
  • 2 tbsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 1/2 Cup Boiling Water
  • 1 tbsp Peppermint Extract
