Yes, we're fully aware that it's still November. However, we thought you might like to know that a new upscale toy store—specializing in sturdy, shiny, impeccably-designed wooden toys—is opening right here in the city at the Oculus. If you're sick of each year's hottest toys barely making it to January, this new spot might be your ticket to mile-wide smiles on Christmas morning or during Hanukkah.
The new shop, which opens at 185 Greenwich St (Oculus at World Trade Center) on November 9 (Grand opening celebration 5–9pm), boasts small luxury toy cars, ride-on cars, airplane toys and other interesting wooden playthings—a welcome addition to the existing lineup of fantastic toy stores in NYC.
Most of the small toys at Toytoise will run you between $30 and $60, while toy sets and puzzles generally fall in the $75–$100 range. Large ride-on toys for your tykes range anywhere from $150–$850, with the most expensive item being an $850 Deluxe Roadster inspired by the first Saab. There's even a $400 Bentley!
Looking for more fun stuff online? Toytoise also has an online shop where you can find epic toys like these speedsters (you can buy 'em here and here).
