Think about it: Is there a mouse out there who is more influential than our beloved Mickey? He and his crew of princesses, animals, fairies and everything in between have kept us completely consumed for years, so much so that we're even naming our children after these popular Disney characters.
Names.org just released a list of the top 35 Disney-inspired baby names, and it's as magical and wonderful as fans would expect. The detailed findings tell us how many babies are named after a particular character, and the research even includes infographics about the movies' release year and the time in which each name peaked. If you're expecting a kiddo in the near future, this chart might provide some much-needed creative inspiration (or you can go the non-Disney route if you so choose).
Naturally, one character emerged victorious in Name.org's study. Ursula might have tried to steal Ariel's voice, but it's clear our favorite mermaid totally stole our hearts, as a total of 42,000 babies have been named after our under-the-sea leading lady. Her beautiful ballads and unfamiliarity with kitchen utensils undoubtedly put her in the lead.
But it's not just about little ladies: Boy names have also taken up real estate on the list, including Maximus from Tangled, Sebastian from The Little Mermaid and yes, even the nefarious Jafar from Aladdin (my personal favorite). Some other top contenders? Ellie from Up, Kiara from The Lion King and Hallie from The Parent Trap.
