After five years of pop-ups and temporary event spaces, Treasure Trunk Theatre owner Elisa Pupko decided it was time for a change.
"It felt right to have a permanent home," she tells Time Out New York Kids. "I recently became a mom, and I see how much there's a need for places for babies to go."
Treasure Trunk's goal has always been to allow kids (ages 0–8) to explore their creativity in an imaginative, safe space. Now the company's residence—located at 141 Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn—will be a permanent children's staple in the neighborhood. To kick off the celebration of her first brick-and-mortar store, Pupko is inviting the community to a grand opening event on June 9 at 11am, where kiddies will be able to enjoy fun DIY crafts and munch on One Girl Cookies while parents mingle and enjoy grown-up treats from Brooklyn Wine Exchange.
Though the launch party will surely be a hit, there's plenty to look forward to in the future, too. Now, there will be an opportunity to take advantage of full birthday party packages beginning June 10 (this group wastes no time)! The 45-minute birthday bashes are a play on the company's signature class, "Imagination Adventure," which kicks off with youngsters ages 2–5 opening a treasure chest and letting their imaginations run wild from there.
Soon to be another classic offering is "Mini Shakes," a new program where those ages 4–7 are introduced to the literary icon, William Shakespeare. Additionally, the new "Musical Adventure" course for kids ages 0–3 combines fun beats with theater and dance to be the ultimate way to bust loose with a few moves. If you're looking to get your kiddo active during summer vacation (or any other vacation, depending on the time of the year), there are can't-miss camp opportunities, too.
