Dreaming about afternoons on the boardwalk and visits to the amusement park? We can't blame you. There are plenty of Coney Island activities for kids, and one in particular deserves your attention.

The newly upgraded Asser Levy Park, which received $4.75 million in funding from Council Member Chaim Deutsch and Mayor Bill de Blasio, is officially open. After grabbing a bite to eat at Nathan's, you're certainly going to want to drop by one of the coolest kids' playgrounds NYC has to offer.

"This park is one of the hidden gems of Coney Island, and thanks to these improvements, it has been renewed for generations to come,” Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver said during the Valentine's Day ribbon-cutting ceremony. Naturally, we can't wait to explore the upgraded facilities for ourselves, and there's plenty for everyone to look forward to: separate play areas and swing sets for various age groups (ages 2–5 and 5–12), a spray shower (which is certainly a welcomed relief during the summer months), new pathways, lighting and much more. Mom and Dad, there's even something for you—adult fitness equipment is on its way as well.

“I’m thrilled about the new playground and that it will be available to the general public just in time for spring,” said Assembly Mathylde Member Frontus.

Luna Park doesn't open until April 6, followed by Deno's Wonder Wheel Park on April 14, so you have to spend those sunny March days somewhere—and Asser Levy Park is the place. While you're at it, don't forget to check out our favorite kids' amusement parks in New York and the surrounding area.

Asser Levy Park is located on W. Fifth St between Surf and Sea Breeze Aves.
