It appears all signs point to spring, so lets take a moment to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

Between a promising weather forecast, the arrival of outdoor activities and the return of the Washington Square Park Fountain, we've passed the threshold of the never-ending winter. To celebrate, it's time to grab a beach towel and dip your feet in for a little relief (temperatures are expected to hit the 80s next week, so you're going to need it).

After a six-month hiatus, the famous fountain underwent a little TLC before getting back into action this week. According to The New York Times, the NYC Parks Department cleaned the water system, filled the tanks and adjusted the fountain heads before it turned on the jets. The switch has been flipped on both the jets and the season, and New Yorkers couldn't be happier to leave cold-weather paraphernalia behind.

This iconic downtown spot is the epitome of spring (and summer) in the city, so it's only right to celebrate the fountain's 2018 season opener. Picture it now: You and the fam are enjoying a snack and some stories in the park on a gorgeous Saturday...but after a little too much sunshine, everyone needs to cool off. Well, the 32,000 gallons of water are at the ready. Little ones (and let's face it, adults, too) will definitely enjoy the possibilities of the jets shooting water up to 45 feet in the air. (Pretty sweet, huh?)

We can't wait to see you there (preferably with ice cream at hand).

Happy Spring, NYC! We're glad it's finally here. To celebrate the lovely weather, grab a bite to eat at one of the best rooftop restaurants NYC has to offer, visit some awesome family attractions after lunch and figure out the spots you need to hit during your quest for the best strawberry picking in NY
