How to ditch your Christmas tree in NYC

We love our Christmas trees, but now that they're dried out and spraying needles everywhere (not to mention taking up valuable real estate), it's time for them to hit the road. Thankfully, getting rid of them is easier than you might think. Here's the scoop:

If you leave your tree curbside from January 2 through 13, the city will take care of it for you with special collections. Trees left on the curb after this period will be collected with regular household trash.

If you'd like to give the gift of fresh wood chips to local NYC parks and street trees, consider heading to MulchFest, where you can tree-cycle your tannenbaum with the help of NYC Parks, New York City Department of Sanitation and GreenNYC.
