Build-A-Bear's Pay Your Age Day ended in total toy-store mayhem

Little New Yorkers and their guardians took over Herald Square on July 12 while lining up for Build-A-Bear's biggest deal yet—Pay Your Age Day. Unfortunately, many shoppers—some of whom were waiting in line for roughly five hours, according to NBC—never made their way inside the teddy workshop.

The special extravaganza was so thrilling that the company wasn't prepared for the massive turnout, and New York wasn't the only town denied discounted plush animals. Locations across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. had to shut their stores early due to the massive crowds waiting to take advantage of the sale. Much to kids' disappointment, the safety concerns that resulted from the number of shoppers put a kibosh on the whole shindig.

Though there were undoubtedly many tears and temper tantrums, there is some good news after the stuffed animal debacle. According to Business Insider, the company will offer Bonus Club members (those who participated in the sale and those who did not) $15 vouchers so their little ones can snag a new fury friend (as originally planned).

But listen up, moms and dads: There's a catch. We don't want any repeat offenses, so if you're looking to take advantage of the $15 bucks, make sure to download the voucher before midnight on July 15. Once you do so, you're entitled to use this offer until the end of August.

Parents, we wish you the best of luck during round two of the teddy bear sale. May the force be with you.
