During the holiday break from school, the Brooklyn Children's Museum is celebrating Kwanzaa with five days of special programming. Children can learn about the holiday as they create special hands-on art projects. Decorate personal Unity cups to drink apple juice out of while learning about the part fruit plays in the holiday and then work on the community Ujima (the Swahili word for“collective work and responsibility”) Textile Making project. Other special projects including making instruments out of gourds and Kwanzaa card-making stations. Make sure to drop by for a storytelling show that details the principles of the holiday.
