Time Out says

Though built in 1784 (well after the Dutch ruled New Amsterdam), this Inwood institution still retains the distinctive characteristics of the Dutch Colonial style, such as a gambrel roof and decorative brickwork. Furnishings, housewares and artifacts from the past 200 years paint a unique picture of rural Manhattan while, out on the grounds, a replica of a Hessian officer's hut hints at the area's Revolutionary War connection.
