Time Out says

Who was Roger Smith? Not even the current owners of this 1929 hotel know. Now it’s run by artist James Knowles, whose bronzes adorn the building’s exterior and lobby (there’s also an adjacent art space), and the rooms are decorated by his wife. A mishmash of antique and modern, the effect is homey and unpretentious, akin to a European bed and breakfast; Many feature old-fashioned four-posters. Each room is different (try to secure a recently upgraded room if you prefer streamlined, modern decor to floral prints), but they’re all a good size. The suites, which resemble comfortable private apartments, some featuring (nonworking) fireplaces, are great value for families.
